Nixon Publishes Review in Acta Neuropathologica

Dr. Ralph Nixon’s recent review paper titled, “Autophagy-lysosomal-associated neuronal death in neurodegenerative disease,” describes the importance of lysosomal-dependent neuronal cell death in the Alzheimer’s disease which is associated with uniquely extreme autophagy pathology (PANTHOS). According to Nixon, the neuronal death is triggered by lysosomal membrane permeability during the earliest “intraneuronal” stage of AD. The review is published in the September 2024 issue of Acta Neuropathologica.
