Collaboration Leads to NIA Funding for Mathews
Dr. Paul Mathews, in collaboration with Dr. Martin Sadowski at New York University Grossman School of Medicine, received an R61 grant from the National Institute on Aging. The project, titled “Off-the-shelf CAR-Engineered Macrophage Therapy for Alzheimer’s Disease,” proposes the development of a novel, cost-efficient, CAR Macrophage/Microglia therapy for Alzheimer’s disease, which will lead to targeted clearance of disease specific proteins. It will carry a low- inflammatory signature and attenuate neuroinflammation, which inherently co-exists with Alzheimer pathology.
