Molecular Neurodegeneration Features Latest Research from Levy Lab

The latest research from the Levy Lab titled, “Mitovesicles secreted into the extracellular space of brains with mitochondrial dysfunction impair synaptic plasticity,” delves into the recently identified and previously unknown type of extracellular vesicles in the brain extracellular space, according to Dr. Pasquale D’Acunzio. D’Acunzio goes on to state that “data suggest that mitovesicles acquire pathogenic functions under conditions of mitochondrial dysfunction, affecting memory formation and the propagation of neuropathology and are potentially unexplored targets for therapeutic interventions.” The article, resulting from research by D’Acunzo, Efrat Levy and colleagues appears in the April 14 edition.
