NKI Research Points to Link Between Diabetes and Alzheimer’s Disease
New York – New Research from the lab of Paul Mathews, PhD, part of NKI’s Center for Dementia Research, indicates a link between diabetes and Alzheimer’s disease. The study which appears in the Journal of Neuroscience, examined the brains of diabetic monkeys, and found insulin resistance and other changes consistent with early events in the brain that may predispose people to Alzheimer’s disease.
